I’ve completely stopped monogamous knitting now with a grand total of three items currently on the needles…..(four if you count the fair isle blanket that I’m having second thoughts about).
Three different projects is a major departure for me. I usually focus on one at a time and plod away until it’s done. I started the featherweight cardigan a few week s back and then was suddenly struck that I really wanted to re-make the hitofude so that I would have it when the weather begins to turn. Suddenly there were two projects on the needles….it was great, when I got bored of the row after of stst that the featherweight is currently consisting of I’d switch to the hitofude and tackle the lace pattern. Fun times!
Then one of the nights this week I thought about starting another project. Now usually I would just wait until I had finished my current project and then think again about which one I want to start but this time I thought feck it…cast on! So I started a Daybreak shawl. This is a pattern I bought for my Mam a few months ago which I stumbled across recently along with a balls of yarn that were “project-less” and from there it was bound it happen!
Has anyone else made this pattern? I must have started and re-started the pattern 5 times trying to figure out the construction of the start, I just couldn’t picture what the pattern was asking me to do. I finally “got it” and now I’m enjoying working away on my first shawl. It won’t be just grey, I have a nice purple yarn to bring into the mix later on.
This multiple WIPs thing is great!
I frequently have at least three projects going at any one time with varying degrees of difficulty. Some nights I just need a mindless easy knit after a long day at work.
