Summer arrived in South Carolina this week and it’s been packing quite a punch so far. Temperatures in the 90s (or 30-35 C if you’re like me!) and it’s been glorious. I love the feel or the hot sun on my skin and driving the car with the windows down and a warm evening breeze drifting in. It makes me feel as though I’m on holidays except that my alarm waking me up each more for work makes me feel otherwise.
Speaking of work it’s been super busy recently, as in long busy days, missed lunches and to-do lists that never end but it’s a productive busy so I’m grateful.
My succulent plant appears to be dying which makes me sad. I even moved it from the living room which gets less light to this bright window sill a few weeks ago but still all the leaves keep falling off. I’m attempting a bit of succulent propagation using the leaves but it’s been a bit hit and miss so far. My $2.50 ikea plant is doing great though and looks like it wants to become a hanging plant which is more than fine with me.
I’ve started buying postcards to send home to my brother (I mentioned the idea behind this briefly here), I picked this one up on our adventure to Myrtle Beach two weeks ago. He still hasn’t gotten it yet but I bet he’ll be delighted when he does. I used to love getting real mail, letters and postcards from friends and pen-friends when I was younger. Unfortunately the only mail I get now is of the junk of bill variety.
Oh and in all of my sharing of waterfalls and strawberry icecream from last weekend I completely forgot to share one my favourite parts – finding these bolts of fabric in a “curiousity” store that looked like the inside of Pier One (fancy and old worldy) and they were only $6 each for the whole bolts. I have no idea how much fabric is on the bolt but it’s at least 5-6 yards on each. Yep I bought two of them and I have big plans for them this weekend.
Happy Friday everyone
