I finally got to return to the thrift shops last weekend, it’s been a few months since I last visited any of them and normally I only go to the same three ones. These three thrift shops were fantastic 18 months ago when I was trying to furnish a house on a budget of roughly zero because they are all packed with couches and tables etc but now that I’m not on the market for those find of these any more the thrifting has been very hit or miss recently.
This trip was a hit though. We went to about 5 thrift shops altogether and saw all the usual stuff with a few little gems thrown in…gems like a huge Elvis cut-out which was not only wearing a hula skirt but also sang! There was this plaque for first runner up in a Mr. Bearcat contest and I would love to know what sort of a contest that was, I also saw this really cool vintage sewing machine table, with sewing machine attached (just ignore the kinda creepy doll).
Best of all I actually ended up buying some things, including some knitting needles (I’ve almost all of the sizes now, most thrifted), a zipper for my next cushion cover, a battery operated radio which will be great for another trip to the drive-in movie theater, a brand new doggie life jacket for Boomer what was a complete steal and the perfect excuses to go hang out on our friends boat again this summer. Hands down my favourite find those was the sunglasses….I’m terrible with sunglasses in the past year I’ve gone through 3 pairs all of which have ended up broken so from to find a pair that I like for $2 well that’s just perfect.
