I’m still on my monogamous knitting kick at the moment – working slowly away on the Burridge Lake cable knit blanket. The going is pretty slow and once I hit the half-way point of the blanket I lost a lot of motivation to finish it. It’s always about this time in blanket knitting that I start to look at other patterns and projects and wish I was knitting something else instead…..ain’t that always the way!
But after taking a break – there was no room in my suitcase to bring that massive blanket on a work trip to Philly (or indeed any time for knitting on the trip!) – I came back to find the blanket on the corner of the couch exactly where I’d left it just waiting to be continued. What do you know that short break gave me a renewed appreciation for the fun pattern and over the last few days I’ve knocked out quite a few repeats and currently sit with 1 repeat left on the center panel.
I've made quite a few alterations to the center panel that I'll share once I've finished the blanket and made sure that they worked out ok - but basically I only kept the cable portion and replaced the vine and long twisted cables with a moss-stitch diamond and short twist cable. I like the look of this version a lot more than the original.
After that there’s only 1 panel left…..a trip to the Michaels to get more yarn….and then it’ll be ready for to give to my friend. I’ve been commissioned to make another baby blanket too but I think I’ll need a bit of a break between blankets!
