I completed the first of my 15 projects in 2015 last weekend (cast-on on Friday so they officially count!). A pair of soft and cozy boot cuffs. Which. last week, seemed like a crazy thing to do when you live in South Carolina and it's over 20C but now this week…well the weather has turned and the temps are plummeting and I seem like genius, a genius with warm legs!
They are so simple to make and only took about two hours each. I used this pattern which I discovered through pinterest, a pair of size 6 needles, less than half a skein of grey Loops&Threads soft and shiny that was on sale at Michaels and some matching buttons from the random assortment I keep in a jar on my desk.
I made the largest size in the pattern because I have pretty large calves and they fit grand but when I make them again I’ll make them at least an inch, if not two inches smaller because they stretch out a lot. It’s great because they don’t feel at all constricting though. Also I’m actually really happily surprised with the quality of the yarn – I normally buy the red heart or value yarn for blankets (because it’s super cheap) but I actually like this yarn so much that I’m planning on making Kathy a cardigan out of it (she wants it to be acrylic rather than wool).
Project 1/15: Boot Cuffs
New/Improved Techniques: first time doing a waffle stitch pattern but otherwise these were just a fun quick knit to keep me entertained while I await a yarn delivery for a cardigan!
