It’s finished…it’s finished!
This is easily the longest crafty project I’ve ever undertaken. I started this rainbow quilt back in June when I naively thought that two months would be long enough to get the whole quilt finished in time to gift it to Kathy for her birthday. I decided very early on that I was going to hand-quilt it and using colour-matched embroidery floss on each of the different sections. Once I’d started that I knew that I wouldn’t like the look on the back unless I quilted the white half of each square with white floss too.
And right there with that little decision I doubled the length of time it look to make the quilt! Yikes!
But it turned out great. Kathy suggested that I bind it with white fabric rather than the black and white text fabric I had originally chosen and I have to admit it is a much better choice. I wouldn’t have even thought of doing the binding in white but it accents the colours and doesn’t compete with them at all. Perfect choice.
Lastly, I couldn’t resist adding these adorable labels to my cart from knitpicks.com because they sum up this project perfectly. Kathy loves the quilt and has been using it every day since I gave it to her – only about 4 months later than intended!
Pretty happy with how my second quilt turned out :)
