If you'd told me 18 months ago that I would not only voluntarily spend my Saturday morning floating down a river but actually enjoy doing it aswell I wouldn’t have believed you and yet that is exactly what my Saturday looked like.
I was about 60 percent excited and 40 percent nervous...although I couldn’t really tell you what I was nervous about, maybe it was the thought of going the wrong way, ending up alone on the river, or getting bitten on the backside by a passing turtle or most likely a combination of all of those things…..what can I say I’m a worrier by nature.
It turned out to be an absolute blast – even more fun than I expected (and I was worrying about nothing because I didn't drift off and I left the river with my backside unbitten!) We showed up, left our valuables in the car, rented a tube, got a school bus (which was a huge novelty to me!) to a drop-off point a couple of miles upstream and then settled into our tubes on the river. We went over a few sets of little rapids which were fun, floated around and paddled past rocks. It was a perfect mix of exhausting and relaxing at the same time.
I’m now considering buying my own tube so I do this more often – and thanks to Kathy for bringing along her camera in a waterproof case so she could grab a few photos. If you're looking for a fun thing to do in South Carolina then try tubing - it was fab :)
