On the camping trip I wrote about yesterday we were camping in a beautiful little campground in the town of Chimney Rock which was a short drive from Hendersonville. We drove from Chimney Rock to Hendersonville at least 4 times, 3 of which were in the dark and we couldn’t see a thing along the way but the 4th time when we finally drove past in daylight we couldn’t help but notice all the orchards and little family farms all along the road.
I picked the one that looked the biggest, the most colourful and then most crowded and pulled in to see what was attracting so much attention and found the beautifully charming and bustling Grandad’s Apples. Even though we only stopped for about 20 mins, we managed to buy a massive bag of apples (I see an apple pie recipe in the near future…), some homemade jam, we debated buying a pumpkin but decided to wait until closer to Halloween, we explored the massive corn field but didn’t chance taking the puppy into the corn maze and we warm apple pie and apple fritters.
Sometimes those accidental little discoveries can make a trip!
