This was a celebration weekend! We held our first ever big party in our little house since moving to SC. We’ve had people over before but never this many at once. The occasion was best friends birthday (a milestone birthday) so I went as far out as she would allow me to – which meant I was limited to candles on a cake and a few balloons decorations wise.
But we had food – oh did we have food; burgers, hotdogs, veggie kebabs, dips and chips of all varieties and then the cake….mhhh the cake was amazing! Unfortunately I only managed to get the cake iced at the last possible moment due to my lack of time management skills. It meant no time for a photo on the whole cake but I did manage to snap a photo of the last piece of it which I had for lunch today (yes lunch don’t judge!).
The sponge of the cake was pretty good but the icing oh the icing was heaven! It’s simply 200g of butter, 200g of icing sugar and 200g of good quality melted dark chocolate mixed together – I need another occasion to make this icing again….
The party was great fun, much food was eaten, quite a few beverages were consumed by all and the house was loud and full of laughter – it felt like home. Can’t wait to do it again, next time I’d love to do a quieter more fancy affair so I push myself to experiment more with cooking and baking.
[Just to note this is most definitely not a healthy recipe - its a luxurious special occasion recipe :)]
