It was Boomer’s half birthday last week and I posted some adorable photos of him eating his birthday cookie and even though I talk all the time about him being as bold as brass everyone just sees his cute face and says he’s adorable – so I thought I’d share some of his recent not so adorable moments.
Daily life with a puppy right now is a complete mixed bag – he has his adorable moments that melt my heart like his morning cuddles and the way he greets me when I come home from work. But there’s another side to him too and this side is frustrating and exhausting! Seriously having a puppy is so exhausting. He needs to be watched constantly because when I take my eyes off him for even one minute things like this happen!
[Boomer likes to sneak into my room, where he's not allowed and steal knickers to chew on - this happens at least once a day...he's slowly turning me into a neat freak]
[Well it was a particulary sunny day so I can see his point]
[No that's not a ball its a peach, stolen from a shopping bag as I was unpacking the rest of the groceries - he didn't really know what to do with it]
[He learnt how to knock it off the holder with his nose instead....fun times]
Boomer loves DIY and is a huge fan of knitting - honestly you should see how excited he gets when he sees a ball of yarn, sometimes I wonder if his mother played around with a cat!
[But he loves to knit without me even more.....look at that guilty face!]
When Boomer isn't making blankets and massive tangels of yarn he spends quite a large portion of his time destroying things.
[Little paws created this massive hole by tapping clawing it to get back inside. Now instead of tapping on the door with his paw he's taken to body-slamming it with his shoulder because it makes more noise]
[We used to leave him these peepee pads when we left him alone so that if he really needed to go he had somewhere to do it, but he stopped using them when he was about 4 months old...I feel like coming home one day to this is the equivalient of a toddler throwing a tantrum to wear big boy pants! He hasn't had one since either]
Several other things have recently been Boomered including, my laptop cable, the cable for the laptop speakers [I don’t have photos of these because I was worried he was going to kill himself since the laptop was plugged in at the time – that was pretty scary!). He’s also done a mighty job on the rugs in the living room (which thankfully were only $20 and we’ve since taken them away) and the old couch (which we’re going to get rid of soon).
I have noticed though that since we took up the rugs and moved covered up the couch so that he can’t reach it, he seems to be calmer in the living room and more content to lay down and sleep so perhaps some of the chewing is more bad habit than real teething…..we’ll see.
I posted his bad puppy moments part one about 6 weeks ago and just look at all the new trouble he's found himself in since then. I dread to think of how big the bad puppy moment folder on my computer will be before he hits his first birthday....
