One of my favourite things so far about living in South Carolina is a abundance of state parks right on our doorstep. I love walking, especially with a dog by my side. It's a breathe of fresh air, so relaxing and peaceful and best of all so close by.
Recently, we when to Harbison State Park with Boomer for a walk. the park is only a 2 minute drive from the main shopping area in Columbia, SC so the perfect place for a walk follwed by a lazy lunch. It was a weekday morning so the park was blissfully quiet. We walked the first trail we found; the map said it was approx. 4 miles long so we figured we'd walk slow and take our time giving the puppy loads of breaks.
I loved this park! It reminded me of the Hunger Games (love those books!) - red sandy earth and huge huge trees in every direction. Some of the other parks we've been to were equally pretty but this one just felt like time was standing still while we were there.
I think they had re-routed the trail due to a recent fire and so it ended up being really long - one of those it's too far to go back so we better keep moving. We were all exhausted by the end of it but not to worry once little Boomer got a blast of the AC in car he was back to his mischievious self again!
